Airbus is located in a German factory. More than 8,000 employees assemble touch screens for A318, A319 and A321 aircraft in this R&D and manufacturing center. They also assemble or customize touch screens for cabin devices such as A320, A300 and A310. Usually passengers do not know how many cables and water pressures are needed to assemble an aircraft. It doesn't matter how much fuel or how much air pressure the aircraft has. As long as the aircraft is reliable and on-line touch screen, manufacturers must ensure that the cabin is leak-free. In this factory, FAL engineers work with other departments to test the new design and scheme developed by Airbus.
A complete detection program consists of more than 15 independent detection units.
To test fuel and air pressure systems, engineers designed a Pro-Face human-machine interface to perform multiple simulation tests on Airbus Airbus Sven Schadlich project engineers explained as follows:“The first step is a pipeline leak detection to detect whether the fuel system is leaking. In this system, there are more than 15 independent detection units. The next step is air release testing, which is required for all air storage systems in the cabin. Innovative Testing Equipment Using Touch Screen Operation
The testing equipment consists of control panel, air pressure regulating device, pressure measuring device, valve, pressure sensor and indicator, and Siemens S7300 PLC. Airbus chose GP2000 series products of Pro-face as the operation and control panel of testing equipment, and communicated with PLC through MPI mode. Sven Schadlich engineer, Jurgen Hintze engineer and Jurgen Lohmann engineer are responsible for developing this innovative testing equipment.

As mentioned earlier, engineers must distribute two major items of testing according to the requirements of overall testing. The time required for the new testing equipment is only one third of the original time. In the original test equipment, there are two vehicles which must be near the aircraft, and each vehicle must be equipped with its own pressure detection device at the same time. A liquid similar to kerosene is injected into the pipeline and pressurized to test the sealing, which is time-consuming even if the pipeline system works properly. At the end of the test, the liquid must be extracted and cleaned. If a leak is found, the program will be more complex.
The new testing equipment consists of a separate console with a Pro-face human-machine interface to monitor and control all testing items. The pipeline will be filled with air as an alternative fuel, but this is not only an improvement. Operating engineers will not only be able to get the information needed at a certain point in time, but also the pressure changes (from 350 mbar to 2100 mbar) detected in the pipeline will be displayed on the touch screen in the form of graphs.
When the corresponding pressure setting value is input, the test will be carried out automatically, and the high-pressure air must stay in the pipeline for a specified time. In this process, if the pressure drops to a certain range, the detection will stop and display on the touch screen the information needed to repair the pipeline leakage. Correspondingly, it is necessary to replace the pipe components or tighten the interface, and then re-test.
An important point in the process of inspection is that the next test can not be carried out before the end of the inspection by pressurizing the interconnected pipes. For example, in the case of covering tension test, the covering, like the cover of the fuel pipeline, also becomes a closed system independently. When the covering test is not finished, the internal pipeline can not be tested.
Engineer Sven Schadlich uses the mutual function of GP-PRO/PBIII, the Pro-face picture configuration software, to solve this problem. This function allows users to transmit a preset value in the PLC address bit to express it.“End of the test”Before, lock a button on the operation panel. The realization of this function does not need any additional programming of PLC, as long as the user chooses the corresponding settings of the button to be locked in the process of editing the screen. In addition, through the built-in script D-Script, a large number of various control and management can be realized on the panel, thus greatly saving the work of PLC.
According to the requirements of the whole detection, the values of pressure, time and variables of each detection unit can be stored in the touch screen. Password protection prevents error message entry. Another reason for the choice of Pro-face for air coaches is the corrosion resistance of dangerous liquids used in the testing process. Even corrosive high-pressure liquid will not damage the front panel of Pro-face human-machine interface. In addition, the ultra-thin appearance of GP2600T makes Airbus very satisfied.

More Pro-face man-machine interfaces are being used to detect pipes and water pressure control devices in the cabin's air reserve system.
